"he's such a bla-bla-bla and he bla-bla"-- baekhyun tunes out, starts singing in his head, tapping his wand against the thigh of his dark slacks. not that he doesn't like his brother--he does, and their family is great: dad in the local wizarding government building actually enjoying and taking pride in the work he does, muggle-mom at home doing her paintings that she loves so much, an older brother who helps him rather than picks on him and doesn't tell on him when he accidentally breaks things or flunks a quiz and uses a magic pen to fix the grade--everyone gets along well, despite being a rare slytherin family that's known for being sympathetic to muggles. (and that causes problems sometimes). but baekhyun has always taken after his mother's adventurous spirit, whereas baekbeom--a straight-A overachieving seventh year, also in slytherin--leans towards their father's desire for order. they get along fine, even when baekbeom's eyes got wide that one year baekhyun accidentally charmed his hair pink, or when he got his ears pierced three times on a whim. baekhyun's always experimenting with his appearance; it's one thing he feels control over, a tiny lingering of his dad left in him. baekhyun's dream might be a little strange; he's heard that, too, but he's been singing since he popped out of the womb (his mother's words) and doesn't plan to change it. he's one of the best soloists in the school choir, and in his free time he tries futilely to recruit members for his "wizard rock band". sometimes "magic punk band." sometimes "why the hell didn't i ace that divination quiz" band - which isn't really that catchy of a name, come to think of it. as a little kid, he used to tinker around on the piano, and he's good at it, good enough to write music, maybe, but he's struggling to learn that on the side, to keep his grades up to his father's wishes. school is a necessary evil, he knows, and he does okay at it, but he'll never be up to his brother's standards, despite having a rather particular talent for certain magical skills. thus, the comparisons - and really, why bother? we might have similar faces but we're different people, baekbeom always says to him. his pet owl is straight from home, a gift for his acceptance into yeonse, a beautiful white bird with black on the wings and one of his best friends. despite the fact that baekhyun is rather outgoing during the day, friendly and bright, he cherishes his time alone, where he can actually think past the constant nagging of 'what should i say next to make this girl like me' and be more himself--and lumi the owl is perfect for times like those, playfully picking at his pencil while he studies or trying to eat the lint out of his socks. sometimes he wonders why slytherin gets such a bad reputation when it's got decent people in it, people who just happen to be a little more cunning than most, but is that a problem? it's part of his charm, being funny and bright, and it's part of the reason why despite his family ties, he doesn't get picked on a lot. he heard someone say once that it would be a shame for his pretty face to get kicked in, and hey, even if that's the only reason, it's a good enough one for him. ┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄┄ OOC ➔ this mun operates in gmt+9 (kst) timezone! for scening, we prefer twitter dms, but threading on journals is okay too. open to any style, but we tend to write present tense paragraph. organic development is preferred over plotting, but light plotting or any ideas are always welcome!
